[rant]We have this golf league we were going to setup here @ work here every Tuesday the teams are going to play 9 holes and have a little tourney. The teams have 3 people so that only 2 play per week (so, if we get slammed with work, we can manage accordingly)... It's been in the talks for about three weeks now...
Quick Tangent. I am going out of town this week, to Ohio. I am leaving Wednesday afternoon and will not be back till Sunday night. Everyone knows I will be out of town and I am crunching to get stuff done with before I leave.
Now, today the team I was planning to play with decided to go practice to gauge handicaps... well seeing that I am going out of town, I couldn't go cause I have to get work done with... and my team knew this.
So, today one of guys who was going to be on my team, I would say a good friend, approached me and said... "Well, seeing that you are going out of town and all, we are recruiting person X to replace you... and uhm, we were thinking of just playing with him during the tournament... I hope you don't mind and all, no hard feelings... I really hope you don't mind... You can always get Person Y and Person Z to be on your team (they are also very good friends of mine)... they need to get out more... etc etc"
I respond "No worries man... kind of sucks that we agreed to be on this team, but hey, if you feel this is better go for it. I really don't mind... If you don't mind me asking... why is it that you want Person X."
My buddy responds... "Well, no reason, it's just you have been taking allot of vacations lately (which I have been, out of the normal 20-24 days a month, I am usually off for 4-8 days to make long weekends) and we need time to practice and stuff... you know stuff like that"
I respond "O'rly... hmmm... oh well that?s fine... good luck and have fun today..." This is when i go back to reading my case and he lets him self out...
Now, I know this is petty but I am kind of pissed. We all agreed that we would play together a couple weeks ago and having been going to the range to practice during lunch and now he and the other guy blows me off. Its not that they are better than me cause we are actually equal in handicap. To be honest, I actually hit more consistent than them. Plus, I already worked my sched. so that I really would only miss 1 or 2 game during the tourney (10-12 weeks total for the tourney)...
It just blows my mind how you can ditch a good friend like this. Oh well, looks like I won't be joining the golf tourney here at work this year.
btw, I did ask person y and z... but they are too swamped with work.
oh well... you think you know people, but they turn out to be shadey...[/rant]

1) golf league is starting here @ work so, two co-workers and i decide to make a team.
2) today "so-called" team goes to test handicap... I am going out of town and can't play this week, and they know this... (mind you this is voluntary today)
3) then they announce another player is going to replace me cause i go on too many vacations.
4) I am pissed.
5) I will survive and get over it... its just the principle
