grrr..ebay is getting ridiculous

Has anyone experienced the ridiculousness that is trying to sell something on ebay these days? I have listed a few things multiple times but each time the winning bid ends up being from from stolen account or from some dude in Nigeria that bids $1000 over what it's worth.


How do I avoid these bidders and is it even worth the effort to try and sell something on e-bay anymore?


BTW, I'm trying to sell an older presario laptop and a few other tech items.

eBay is only good for selling non computer/electronic items anymore. Personally, I sold a N64 with like 20 games, bunch of accessories, all that jazz back in March or February, no fraud bids at all on it, and I got a decent price ($200+) for it all. But I wouldn't try to sell a computer anymore.

I only sell things on forums now (FS/T, Head-Fi, and POTN are my main ones).

wtf are you guys doing that this happens all the time? granted, i don't sell a whole lot but when i do, i only get the occasional person asking to buy outside of ebay.

i just sold my Wii and a bunch of accessories for $500 and i only got 1 bid in the last minute of the auction. i only got one scam email and that was just to advertise some asian distributor's website, not to try to buy my item.

Laptops are like the number 1 target for scammers, as they're small, easy to sell and go for high prices. Outside of laptops eBay is fairly scammer free.

I had a computer i tried to sell on craigslist. This guy said he wanted to buy it and said he had cash. Then he calls me and tells me right before we're about to meet and says that he doesn't have cash but he can give me in-store credit to micro center. Everybody else tried to low ball me so i sold it on ebay. Haven't had any problems w/ scammers on ebay. Fees are ridiculous though.

I dont find ebay to be any better or worse than when i started in 97 or whenever.
