This angers me. I go online to the dealership site, check out their "internet deals", see a nice deal, and e-mail them showing interest.

So I start trying to haggle and the guy responds with the price being a misprint.

Fine, so a misprint, ok I can understand that, but then he drops the bomb:
He gives a separate price for the incentives version (on the website there is a $1500 incentive for the vehicle), saying if I go with the incentives the cost is $1500 more.

WTF? 😡

How is that an incentive if you just jack up the cost of the vehicle by the incentive amount?

It really angers me, since previously I had dealt with this same dealership when I bought my last car and they were straight to the point on the cost, the sales guy even showed me the invoice they paid for the vehicle off the truck and we haggled around that cost. Now the guy who replaced him wants to play stupid games.

not rly, they don't do shit

Yeah and just a little bit ago the BBB got called out on the news for basically letting companies pay them to receive an A+ Rating. They then "fixed" the problem according to their CEO. But what's to stop them from doing other shady stuff like that?

Were you there in person or over email? Changing the price on me = walking out with some choice words about their business practices.

That being said, all my dealer purchases have been very positive and no bullshit. But those were all luxury marque stores.

Yeah, that was sort of tongue in cheek though I suppose it doesn't come off that way in text.

About 8 years ago my dad saw a good price on an Intrepid at a local dealership, the ad was in the newspaper. Upon following up they tried bumping the price up a few grand, a call to the newspaper later, they were practically begging him to take it.

I sent them an e-mail about the offer they had online in their "internet specials" category. His initial response was "when can you come down and test drive it?"

Then when I had some more questions about whether the manufacturer incentives were valid at that price, he responded "The price on that unit online is a misprint."

Classic bait and switch. 🙁
