GRRR!!! ATI DRIVER ISSUES PART II!!!

yhelothar

Lifer
My old issues are now fixed by the 3.5 drivers.. so that's good 🙂

but now my old driver problems are gone, new ones are present!! :|
I never had these problems with the older drivers...

Games are unstable now.. 10 minutes into vice city.. it froze...
command conquer generals froze also

There are also a lot of issues in the game, Tactical ops, a UT mod..

in the water, the far distances(kinda like how the far distances are blurry), but instead of blurry, it is replaced by another texture.
i'll get a screenshot later...

also the worse part of it, is that it performs really bad...
i usually get like 15-25fps, and when there isn't a lot on the screen, i would get 60fps...

on catalyst 3.2(i had a few problems with these though), i get 160fps constantly...
this runs slower than UT2003...

I have a
radeon 9700 pro(built by ati)
abit nf7-s rev 1.2
1.9GHz athlonxp

i went withthis guide on installing the drivers...
so i cleaned out the old drivers very well...

I like the Omega drivers.. They run very stable with better image quality.
It sounds like you may need to reformat and clean install windows. There shouldn't be a performance drop like that.

Maybe if you dont OC that much

grrr

i think i might be switching back to xp then... which xp better fix the problems!!

btw squidman... i didn't OC at all.. my radeon 9700pro is a sh!t OC'er.. so i don't bother with it..

yep, seen the same problem, don't know how to fix it though. My friend has the 9700pro and while playing vice city, it won't boot his save states

well, my friend experienced the same problem in vice city after he just reformated his hardrive, and he does no overclock, so I'm guessing it's a driver problem.

so I'm guessing it's a driver problem
Instead of guessing why not actually run your system at stock speeds and try for yourself?

And make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system and disable all background programs (firewalls, anti-virus, chat programs, 3D tweakers etc).

yup, i did mean memory/cpu overlcock. You said AT's overclocker/tweaker in your sig, so i assumed. Plus, if u had issues before, and have others now - that probably whats causing them. Prolly pushed your memory. And you're using Server 2003????!!!! Im surprised it worked at all! As viper noted, 2003 is by no means a gaming/desktop platform.
