Grrr again! Hey Delta, any clue what "universal" means?

Annoyance #150 on this project. Thought I'd finish the electrical in the bathroom today (except the radiant floor heat; that's tomorrow night's project). It'd be nice to use the bathroom lights instead of work lights - they heat it up like mad in that very well insulated room.

Got a delta faucet for the shower. Delta faucets for the vanity. Delta towel rods. Delta everything so it matches perfectly (bronze finish). Even a Delta light fixture with a "universal" mounting plate that doesn't mount to a 4" j-box.

I've got a plentiful supply of good drill bits, etc., and could drill a pair of holes to match perfectly, except they have so many slots running through the thing that one hole or the other would half overlap a slot, reducing its ability to hold the light to the wall. Grrr!

Are 4" junction boxes uncommon or something?

Annoyance #151:

Wife had a list of things to get. Among the 20 or so things on the list, "2- three way switches, white, with ground." Where are they? Those ones right there. These are heavy duty regular switches. "The bin said they were 3-way switches." Where'd you get them? "Home Depot." *sigh* My wife doesn't make mistakes like that - pretty sure they were in the wrong location, as happens all the time. At least the guy was nice and helpful tonight when we got the carpet pad.

I've had that issue with light fixtures, it's one of the reasons most of my hair fell out.

If you buy the good quality boxed switches at the depot open every box and check them. Around here people swap them with the low end boxed switches. It's annoying as hell.

4" jbox? I would say typical is the round box...unless it's a 4" round box? I guess I never paid attention to how big those boxes actually are LOL.

Stuff in the wrong bins is pretty common at those places. I see employees cleaning it up, so I assume it's customers putting things back in the wrong place.

Always triple-check your widget.

Yep. You have to adept to check the SKU of what the shelf tag says against the item you're holding in your hand. Definitely time consuming (but faster than a 2nd trip when you get home and realize you bought the wrong item).

Yeah, I've seen the same thing happen with outlets and switches. I almost grabbed the wrong one until I noticed that the packaging looked slightly different than the others!
