He and a plumber are replacing the main line that comes in to our small apartment complex (4 units). It's definitely needed after seeing the old pipe (we are a couple blocks from the intercoastal and the place is about 40 years old).

Still no notice and something that would have been better done on a 'working day'.

I didn't want to start a fight with the guy, but I did make it clear he could have let us know. We could have gone to a hotel last night....I just flew back in from Arizona and wanted a relaxing Saturday.

How much more relaxing could it be? Hell, you don't even have to take a shower!

how about perhaps taking a dump or pissing? Washing my face or something.

It's not so much that I understand they need the time, it's just I would have headed to a hotel last night.

Maybe he did give notice but since you were out of town you didn't get it. I know it sucks but I wouldn't complain. He's trying to keep the place up for you. In the end it's to your benefit anyway. Probably have a lot better water pressure too.

my wife didn't go.

I realize it's for the apartment's best interest.

Still it wasn't fair to us. If we didn't have bottled water it would have been pretty bad.

Anyway...toilet is filling...he knocked on the door and told me they would have done this during the week but it had been raining.

It could've been an emergency and he had to shut if off. It could certainly happen if the drainpipes or main water pipes to one of the other tenants got busted or needed to be replaced.

Look at the flipside, atleast he's being a responsible landlord and taking care of things before it will be a problem.

not an emergency.

Also to those above it's a rant. It's a rental so we share it...the proper thing to do is to let everyone know.

I would have no problem had I known about this. I could have made arrangements at a hotel or somewhere else or even filled my tub the night before like if a hurricane was coming.

In that case, the thread would have gone like so:

Grr, landlord working on water pipe today, so I had to stay at a hotel last night. Just got home from Arizona and was hoping to have a relaxing Saturday. Would have been nice if he had given us 10 days notice, and not just 3 days.
< /rant >

Am I right?

I don't get your post.

My wife did not come to Arizona with me. Also I didn't get 3 days notice either.

I did read the thread. You were bitching about your water being off for a few hours. You stated that had you known about the issue you would have made arrangements and gotten a hotel or filled your tub with water.

Well by this time you are surely well aware of the issue. So I asked why you didnt get a hotel room if the having the water off is such a major issue for you.

The fact of notice by the landlord is not really an issue an issue at this point, its a done deal. Now I guess you can either get a room to have running water, or you can just sit there and bitch and moan about your circumstances.

It was off for 5 hours+....when I went out at 9am to ask about it they said they were almost done.

What you and the other fvcktards are really missing in an attempt to attack the poster...is how would you like to wake up to your water off?

It doesn't matter rental or ownership...you wake up and your water has been turned off for a planned maintenance and you were not informed.

I wasnt trying to attack anyone. I was just asking why you hadnt gone to a motel yet.

But it really doesnt make a damn bit of difference to me what you do. My water is working fine.

I think I'll go take a crap, flush my operational toilet, brush my teeth and take a long hot shower.

Have a nice day.
