My music was always slowing down while I was on the internet. My games slowed when things exploded..and all this on a win2k am 1333Mhz platform. Mobo is a7m266, mem is 512 pc2100..so I decided to investigate...

View by connection in device manager shows
pci 9 Radeon DDR
pci 9 Creative SB (Live)
pci 9 USB Modem
Pci 9 Via USB controller

It seems I have found the culprit! But how do I change the irq settings? I changed the pci slots around - no luck! I tried changing in the bios - still no luck! How is this done in win2k professional?

Thanks in advance.

you dont. because acpi is enabled by default in your bios, win2k installed acpi as well, which makes your components seem like theyre sharing IRQ's when in all actuality they are not. happens all the time, do a search for acpi, and youll fid all the answers you need.

Might be your sound card, because both of the problems you mentioned involved sound. I'd troubleshoot that.
