Grr.. can't get dma to work on my Lite-On 16x DVD-Rom

Ok important system info is as follows:

MSI Ultra745
Primary IDE devices: 80 gig Seagate (dma working), 40 gig Maxtor (dma working)
Secondary IDE devices: 32x Liteon CDRW (dma working), 16x DVD-ROM (dma NOT working)
768 mb pc2100
athlon xp 2000+
WinXP Pro

Of course I chose DMA if available from the drop down menu for the DVD-ROM, but it still wants to do PIO. A
