Grr... big problem with Win2k

OK, so I have couple of programs running (WinMX, Morpheus, IE etc.) and then as I am in the middle of something (whatever), my computer TOTALLY freezes. The monitor goes into a stanby mode, song played in Winamp freezes, there is nothing I can do except to hard reset it. Any ideas what could be causing this? I suspect WinMX, but how do I know?
 
my system would do that also w/ winmx and i could never figure out why.... even if i just let it do its thing w/ win mx only. I was gonna reformat but didn't a have time at school and still dont' have time.
