I had such high hopes growing up as a kid that I would be rich when i was older. Well, i'm getting older now, and i guess reality got to me and now im fucked. I guess it was how i was raised, but did anyone have any similar dreams? the problem is, i still think this way. i guess its too much movies and music, haha.

No. I'm currently a Graphic Design major in my Junior year of college and I have no illusions about the money I'll be making. I'm not exactly going to be rolling in the dough, but I don't see myself living paycheck to paycheck either.

I never had dreams of being rich, but I did set my sights on being successful at whatever I did, and the money just seemed to come after that.

I would consider myself way better off than my parents growing up...I have the luxury of buying whatever I want when I want, bought a 7 figure $ house a year ago, bought a Porsche Cayman 2 years ago and have all the toys I need/want...my newest thing is electric guitars and they are valued at $6k...I do give back to my mom though, what she needs she gets...my wife and I are looking at retiring at 57 if everything works out as planned.
I meant 7 figure...

No. We were pretty damn poor growing up. I make much more now than I ever thought I would.

*Everyone* - my teachers, my friends, my parents, people I volunteered with - everyone - told me when I was a kid that I would be rich after I graduated. I never believed any of them, and it pissed me off to no end that they kept saying it. So no, I didn't think I would be, and I'm not.

I'm still in school, but I think I will be pretty well off. When I start working, I'll be making more than my mom makes right now, and she's been working at the same place for about 24 years. It might be a while before I make as much as my dad.

Both of my parents grew up dirt poor, and my grandparents poorer than that. My grandmother said that when she was a kid, the Great Depression didn't even effect them because they were so poor.

But I have no real desire to become super rich. I like the simple things in life. :)

Never thought I would be, never particularly wanted to be, etc. Now that I've developed a firmer understanding of how things work I'm certain I'll never be even middle class (by income), except through some great stroke of luck like a lottery or big poker win.

No, I was shooting to clear a couple hundred in food stamps. I like to set the bar low, that way I have a better chance of exceeding my expectations. Pretty much how I live my life. Like I was hoping to live in Alabama growing up, but managed to 1 up it by getting to georgia.

I wouldn't say rich, but certainly making more than I make now. My family has always been lower income so I don't see much hope for me.

I thought I would be rich. But, I had such a poor understanding of income when I was a kid. I remember in grade school we talked about being garbage men because we thought they could make up to $11 an hour! And then in high school I thought it would be so easy to make money, because I was "smart." At least in high school I had a decent idea of what "rich" meant. Then I moved out on my own, and discovered being "smart" wasn't really worth squat and life would suck as a garbageman.

My growing up was split between living under communism during early childhood and the post-communist collapse during my tweens, so riches were never anything more than very remote dream.

Realistically? Not really.. I thought maybe I'd make some nice cash doing some kind of job with computers and be really happy about it.

Now... >_> Not sure at all. I might end up in a shack, dead, and covered in poo or I could be a billionaire. :/ I'm just waiting until I go out and buy that winning lottery ticket... mmmhmm..

never thought about it, one way or another.

only a small handful of decisions in my life have been financially motivated.

Lame. Almost all of mine are financially motivated because I don't have much of a decision in it all.

Haven't thought about it, just taking life one week at a time.
