group policy exception for 1 pc.

Hi we have a group policy that prevents any changes to window firewall. There is one computer that uses a special program and the windows firewall settings are preventing it from working. Is there a way for me to edit the registry or gpo to exempt this pc from this particular firewall setting?

Thanks

Drop the computer user account in to an OU below the OU at which the other group policy is applied. That way it'll inherit all the other GPOs, and you can apply another GPO to that new OU that forces Windows Firewall off.

You could deny access to his computer account on the GPO (Group Policy Object) (but this would block all the settings in that GPO), or create another GPO that has the proper settings for the firewall, then order it such that it takes precedence over the standard GPO. I think they process the GPO's in order so its the later ones that precedence.

You can also create a GPO specific for the PC and have it override the settings. You can role out the firewall settings in it also. (edit - like Dawks said)
