I've made a few new group policies the other day, they did not seem to replicate so I rebooted came back from dinner a few hours later and now I have the 20 policies I should have in the sysvol folder. Think it's solved.

Wake up browse to \sysvol\policies folder and wtf there only 10 policies. I run gpupdate get

"Windows failed to record Resultant Set of Policy (RSoP) information"

technet says
https://social.technet.microsoft.co...-of-policy-rsop-information?forum=winserverGP

is there a way to do this without reboot as I can't kick off everyone off during the day.

weird part is gp replicates some days, I come back the next morning and it's gone from 20 to 10 policies (which it should not)

Time to run DCDIAG and FRS diags (or DFS if you are using that instead.) You will need to locate what ever server has the "most correct" set of policies and then disable FRS on all other servers, and one by one do a nonauthorative restore until they all agree. This mostly happens when a retired server is brought back after tombstoning or policies are altered on multiple servers at once.
