This is a cool new DX11 benchmark using tessellation and real time lighting rendering some outdoor scenes. Post up your results!

Looking at the vid I like the wind effect on the foliage. I wonder what physics engine they are using and if it's gpu or cpu based?

On the negative side though, you can clearly see the LOD change as you get closer to objects.I don't know if they are using tessellation or actual LOD on the models? Tessellation, I would imagine. I guess the way to tell would be to run it in Dx9/10 and see if the effect remains.

Left all settings alone except to put tessellation on ultra and 60 seconds for the benchmark length.

SLI is not working so for a single 480

Avg: 22.1
Max: 23.8
Min: 16.9

It looks amazing in still shots, but as soon as the camera starts to move, its like "ouch" lol

The LOD adjustment is TOO obvious... Its a bit ridiculous how you see all trees change shape as you go...Does it have a mode where it doesnt do that? It would be incredibly taxing but still

After reading the site a bit more they use LOD's. Tessellation is just for the ground. The transition is to dramatic. Seems like they are only using 2 LOD's and the switch is done too close to the camera. Needs at least one more LOD, probably two.

I can't believe the FPS you guys are getting.

But more or less objectively speaking, does it look really jaw-dropping?
That forest shot looks insane.

EDIT: Haha, on DX9 - 1680x1050 my 4670 can't even scratch 5 FPS.
Though with all the on-screen stuff going I wonder if my X2 could be bringing my FPS down.

In my opinion? A huge no, it's not that good visually. The picture shown is not what you see. The graphics quality doesn't merit the poor FPS.

I first cranked it up to 1920x1080 at ultra tesselation and still it looked rather bad to me... Maybe I'm missing something?

Arcania Gothic 4 uses I believe PhysX to offer tree and foliage movement and they look much better and a lot faster frame rates.

EDIT: Maybe lots moving on screen not helping, but it has rather poor detail. On their site (screens not in the demo), the engine looks impressive!

I think this benchmark is simply poorly optimized. Or maybe they rely on "programmer artwork" - i.e. horribly optimized meshes, excessively big textures, excessive shader code, etc.

Kinna like how you raped kingcold9's score's despite the fact that he has a better video card *and* CPU :awe:. Interesting you didn't post x-fire results, or did you?? Does crossfire work or is it both sli AND cross fire that won't work??

just ran it again and paid attention to my cores with coretemp none of them even got above 30% utilization during the bench. dont really understand why my score is so low if the cpu isnt even maxing out

It may not be properly optimized for multiple cores, but rather likes high CPU clocks?
