Was looking at front panel wiring of Antec Mini P180 and saw the ring connector screwed to the internal frame of the case.

There is eSata, usb, and audio connectors. Just wondering if this is for the usb or the eSata. It looks like it runs in there along with the usb connector. What exactly is the point of this?

I'm guessing it would be to prevent a short on the usb header on the motherboard when plugging in usb and shorting out the connection from bent pins or forcing it the wrong way. Not sure though, so figured I'd ask here.

The strange thing is, only the one usb connector has the ground wire. I noticed it is a solid block of molded plastic so it is definitely only going to that usb port. The eSata and the other usb port don't have it. It could be though, that it is grounding the whole mess through the bracket that everything is attached to.

Get out your multimeter and test for continuity. I'll bet they all are grounded as well as the shielding on the wires.
