Ground Rules of HTF: All Hardware or mixed topics allowed?

Is this supposed to be a hardware forum or can we ask software questions, too? I'm talking about software questions that are highly technical and do not fit other forums.

Yes, it's exactly as anand stated in his announcement of this forum:

<< This forum isn't only for CPUs; you can discuss manufacturing in the motherboard industry, different types of memory architectures, graphics chip pipelines and their future, chipsets and inherent bottlenecks, compiler optimizations for various architectures, OS/driver/hardware interactions, etc... The possibilities are endless, but I ask that you comply with these basic rules in addition to the rest of the AnandTech Forum rules >>

Anything.

Just technically detailed in depth.
Consider it sort of like the topics you might discuss in a university course or higher.

Not stuff like
[*]do I want a GeForce or a Radeon.
[*]Look at the new GF4 specs
[*]help me trouble shoot this

While all valid things to post in the forum are not for the HT category.

But yes software type questions are perfectly valid as long as it's not stuff like "Nero vs Adaptec"
