Grossest thing I've seen in person so far...

I'm working in a trauma center ER, went up to the roof to see a chopper land today & they unloaded a guy who'd just shot himself in the head, gray matter & blood dripping all the way to Trauma 1 where they stabilized him to collect his organs...

Alive but brain dead, he'll die when they shut off life support after the organs are harvested.

I'm an RN, worked ER for years, just never a trauma center. The paramedics do all the roof work, us RN's stay in the Trauma rooms.
 
ER is scary

I volunteer at the local hospital, in ED2 (kind of like ER, but it's for non-traumatic, non-very urgent things, like a bee sting that might turn bad or an allergic reaction)

Of course, I do boring things like paperwork
