Yeah, I talked to a doctor about it a year or so ago, but I had crappy insurance then, so it would have been out of pocket. Just saw a banner ad for the stuff tonight and it reminded me.

Plus, it's not like it's over the counter medicine anyway, so I'd have to get a perscription from my doc...not to mention the consultation.

thanks for posting your experience

<----- Doc with athlete's foot

Whatever you use, make sure it has 1% clotrimazole in it, that's the only medication that actually kills the fungus, others just stop the grow. Apply every day for a couple weeks and it should help. If the infection is actually in the nail, you may need to take oral medication for 6 months (which isnt even that effective) but try the topical cream first.

Yup, note that in the Clical studies section, that the treatment is effective for 59% of users. Not great but not bad, plus I think the medication costs something like $500 for a full course and not a lot of insurance companies pay for it. I'd go with two weeks of the OTC stuff first and then to the bigger guns. Hell, I use the the generic Target brand and it works great.

Yes, after a foot injury, I ended up with 2 of the most ugly toenails in the world. There's no way in hell that a topical is going to go through the nail and get to the root and kill the fungus at the source (if you believe the commercials.)

Yes, you need a prescription for it, but...
no, that doesn't necessarily mean your insurance is going to cover it. I have quite good insurance, but mine wouldn't cover it. It's expensive, but you may be able to save a little $$ by getting it from Canada. Takes a long time for the infected nail to grow out far enough that it's gone - my treatment ended a while before the infected part of the nail was gone. But, the day I clipped off the last bit of yellow nail and nothing left but a nice nail was one of those happier occasions. It worked for me.

It was new, very expensive and I needed more than 3 treatments to get results. Then it came back, as I was unable to continue treatments.
