My '95 Civic occasionally makes a low-pitched, groaning or creaking noise when turning. It sounds like it is coming from the rear right tire area. It definitely happens more often when there are more people in my car. With just me driving, I rarely hear it. With 5 people, it appears as though it is guaranteed to do it at least once during a fairly short drive. I can't recall if it is worse when turning left or right, but I'm leaning towards thinking it doesn't make too much of a difference.

I'm planning on taking it in tomorrow morning to have it looked at, but I wanted to see if anyone here could provide any guesses as to what my issue might be, what it might cost to repair it, how long that repair normally takes, etc. I would greatly appreciate it!

Power steering pump wouldn't sound like it's coming from the back of the car, but could be an aural illusion.

Might be the exhaust system rubbing up against a suspension component. Or just a worn shock or strut. Before you take it in, do a bounce test. See if you can hear the sounds while bouncing the car. The other option is take the wheels off and rotate them. Check your calipers are not rubbing either.

Try to narrow it down because going in blind is not a good idea. That gives them free reign to find any problem.
