Grisoft AVG message, but never installed it...

Recently emails I send are being recevied by others with this message on the bottom:
"This email scanned and found virus-free by Grisoft AVG" or something to that effect.
Problem is, I use NAV and have never installed a Grisoft product.
Started seeing it on another PC that I support, also on NAV, never installed Grisoft there either.
Is it possible to get this product as a spyware and/or virus??
I keep both machines on ZoneAlarm, NAV, etc. all updates are automatic. Mine is WinXPsp2, the other is Win2000sp4.

I hear a lot about how great this product is, but vcertainly don't want it loading on my machines without being invited...

Anyone familiar with this?

Could be possible that you have visited a website (a dodgy one) and it has installed automatically.
It is a free virus scanner therefore it is probably CRAP that you don't want.

See if you can remove it in Add/Remove Programs.

If not, run:
Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy

Or go to START > RUN > Msconfig
See if it is loading there at startup the stop it.

It could also be attaching itself to emails you are sending, I'd try remove it if I were you.

I use the AVG antivirus by Grisoft. I prefer it to Norton.

Some time ago, it seems, you could just d/l and install off the net. Lately, when I've put it on other machines I noticed you must receive an activation code via email to install it. So, you could have perhaps installed by accident some time ago. But not recently, you can't type in an activation code by "accident".

If I have Grisoft AVG installed on my computer, and you send me an email, my Grisoft installation will scan the message for viruses and then attach the certification message at my end. So it simply sounds like you're sending email to people who have Grisoft AVG installed on their computers.
