Gripes with Motorola warranty service - worst EVER

Story starts with purchase of V70 wireless phone on amazon.com. The phone works flawlessly for the first 3 months, then, suddenly, the battery performance just plummets. I seemingly went from a 4-day standby to a 1-day standby overnight. I even stopped carrying my phone around with me because it was a daily occurance that the annoying low-battery warning would beep on me.

I called Motorola, and was given an exchange for a new battery from their national center in Ft Worth, TX. Since I was visiting home to Dallas, TX from Austin, it wouldn't have been a problem for me to stop by that location IN PERSON and get the battery exchanged in person....instead of having to wait the 2-week turnaround. The rep told me that it was not possible because that center was structured like a warehouse and didn't really have a walk-in facility. I sent in my battery, and 2 weeks later called in to check on its status. They told me that the battery had been received, and was in the "processing" stage. 2 weeks later marked the end of school and I had gone home permanently. It was then that they sent my new battery---the package was dropped in front of my vacant room. Good thing my friend hung around and picked it up for me.

That battery worked well for about a month, but started acting up likewise. Also, one of the function keys on the face dial was dull and insensitive...but I put up both of those problems, not wanting to forego a whole month of WASTED phone service (45$). I went to their website, and emailed them about my disassifaction. In their reply they linked me to a Dealer Service Location webpage where I can find service centers close to me. For my hometown I pulled up a Cingular Wireless dealer, interestingly enough. I had my doubts, and it was confirmed when they told me in person that they did not deal with any repairs whatsoever, much less on a Tmobile account, and then referred me to a Tmobile dealer accross the street. I went there, and ofcourse they did not do repairs either. The tmobile guy referred me to a dealer which charged 25$ deductible..just for looking and tryuing to repair the phone not counting parts costs... he was unclear in specifying whether it was a Motorola contracted place or independent. funk that, im still under warranty.

I called up the Motorola warranty line, and the lady apologized for the ordeal. she wasnt able to explain how the computer gave me the Cingular location. However, her computer showed 2 places in town where I could get it checked out in person: Solectron Global Services and Trillium Industry. They sounded real sketchy... and sure enough they were! I drove down to Solectron today, and ended in the middle of a huge Industrial Park. It was all large warehouses w/ truck ports... WTF... I called Solectron and they told me that they didn't do any cell phone repair... and suggested that I stop by a Tmobile dealer or something. GREAT! I wasn't about to try Trillium Industry.

So now I just called Motorola again, and this lady was perplexed at how Solectron wasnt dealing with cell phone services. She tried to pull down a list of other service centers where I can go, and funny enough Trillium isnt on there now! What's funnier is, she couldn't find any other places at all. She said she sees ATT/Motorola places, Nextel/Motorola places, but nothing for my case. Im in DALLAS TEXAS--not BOISE IDAHO--and she cant find ANY service centers. she said that there was nothing she can do...she wasnt able to help me because she doesnt know any resolutions. She said the only thing I can do is send the entire phone to the National Facility in Ft Worth again. Since I now wanted a loaner phone in the meanwhile, I asked again if I could go there in person or call them ahead of time. Here's the kicker: she said she doesnt know their number and even she has no way of contacting them!!! It's motorola's own "NATIONAL SERVICE FACILITY" and she said she has no way of contacting them--theyre a "mail order only" facility. BRILLIANT.

I resorted to calling Tmobile. The rep told me that they would send me a refurbished replacement by USPS. that phone would carry its own warranty, and included in the package is a prepaid postage label so that I can send in my faulty phone back to Tmobile for free. So hopefully I get a new phone by Friday. Death to motorola. I want to send them a copy of this to someone high up in their chain, but the only medium I have is their web-form... where some minimum wage entry level worker will reply with another generic copy&paste response and ignore my grief. Any help here?

yeah, right. i have had 2 v60s and they were perfect. charge only when low, charge till full. full cycle before initial use. yadda yadda yadda.

now what sense would it make to call my cell phone service provider when its the phone itself thats acting up and not the service

If you RTF TMobile M, it says not to send your phone to the manufacturer for warranty service.
