So I've been trying to look at some e3 videos. Why the heck do some companies not host the shots of their games on their sites. Why do they direct you to stupid pay sites or free sites but where you have to pay for high quality vids.

lame.

Know what you mean. Fileplanet is really getting on my nerves. The free download lines seem to have longer and longer queues, and they do everything possible to put ads in your face advertising their subscriber service. I've been trying out GameSpot for viewing vids. It is pretty much streamed immediately, but the video quality is pretty low.

I don't understand why publishers have to be so cheap as to not even host patches for their own damn games. I mean you go to the game's page, you'd EXCEPT to find a download link for the latest patch right there. But no, at best, you'll find a news article about the patch being released. Then head over to FilePlant to grab it!

it is rather dumb that a lot of game companies don't hsot their own patches but i subscribe to fileplanet anyway, so its not that big of a deal for me.

Agreed... if you're going to sell a product, you should have an infrastructure (website, bandwidth) to support it. I haven't really been into PC gaming for quite some time and this is a big reason why. Customers are expected to jump through hoops just to download a patch... not to mention the fact that patches oftentimes beat the game to the shelves.

Battlefield 2 killed PC gaming for me.

I shelled out the 19 bucks a freaking year and never have to wait in line ever. I've downloaded 100s of gigs from that site alone. When E3 hits I download every decent game's videos in high quality.

People refuse to pay though. And I can understand why, why pay for what is supposed to be free. But then again, I get premier access at 19 bucks a year and don't spend my time bitching about it like the "I want everything for free" crowd does.

Thats what annoys me the most. News and free stuff on fileplanet is one thing (although I'd prefer they offer a torrent as an alternative) but when you charge some one $50 for an unfinished game and then expect them to deal with that fileplanet garbage to get the patch? Thats just terrific!

1) fileplanet isn't that expensive. it costs less than most magazine subscriptions.
2) not only do you get your files faster, you get access to betas and other stuff that non-subscribers would be able to get
3) if you're really that cheap, scour the internet for what you want. chances are someone has it out there. don't be lazy if you want stuff for free.
