gripe about my highschool

i'm 3 years out of highschool.. my sister goes there now.. my gf teaches there... and i sub there on fridays since i dont have any classes then... well this is what pisses me off.... yesterday the highschool hockey team won the state tournament.. and the show choir won gold at the regionals out of like 500 schools.... now our local newspaper today was basically dedicated to the hockey team.. and sai dnothing about the show choir.. the show choir winning gold is way bigger of a deal because it is out of way more schools than the hockey tournament... also there were like 10 kids absent from my gf's first period class.. most of them hockey players.. including the principal's son.. this bs pisses the hell out of me.. dont get me wrong.. i was definatley a 3 sport jock in highschool.. but this still is bull$hit...
well thats my gripe.. on how $hitty things are.. and everything is based on politics

The newspaper probably only mentioned the hockey team because it is what it?s readers *gasp!* are probably most interested in.

And saying the chorus win was more important than the hockey one is pretty pretentious if you ask me.
 
A hockey championship is more important to your school than the choir championship?? 😛 That's not surprising.. seeing as how I'm in high school too, I wouldn't care about the choir championship either.
 
i'm not saying important... i'm just saying maybe more of an accomplishment.. since it is out of 500 schools opposed to something like 20 or 25

Yeah we heard about our girl's basketball team winning some state champ for 3 years after the fact, and nothing about choir all-staters or anything about the bands. It's just the way it is.

*ding ding ding* I think we have a winner here. I mean, seriously, do you see "Monday Night Men's Choir", Saturday afternoon choir festivals and the equivalent of the AllStarGame on once per year when it comes to choirs?

There's a reason that was talked about more than the choir. Our nation has an utter obsession with sports.

My HS was private. 64 people in my graduating class; 650 students from K-12.
I had one hell of a time there. I wish I could go back. Everything was pretty well run. I hear it sucks now (lot of admin. BS) but it was fun while it lasted 😀
