If you bought one of the levels that gives you Alpha access for Grim Dawn, Steam (yep, Alpha is using Steam. Full game won't require it) keys are being handed out today at Humblebundle.com. Just create or login your Humble account using the same email address you used for you Grim Dawn purchase. Add the game, then click on the game to get the key page.

Downloads start tomorrow at 10am EST!

Hmm, I followed this game for a while a long time ago but development seemed to be going at a snails pace and I lost interest. It seemed like it had promise, but I've been burned by a lot of bad ARPG's lately, not sure if I'll bother with this without a demo.

Man the game looks really cool, but I just can't enjoy an ARPG that is not based around a client/server system like Diablo 2 & Path of Exile. Otherwise I end up playing to finish it and put it away because loot can just be generated on your machine.

Will still pick this up once it goes gold for a play-through though, looks great.

Just for the setting I'm sure this game will be among the best.
And look at the dev team, can't complain.

Art direction is looking awesome and the fact that it's based on the Titan Quest class/skill system I have nothing to say other than HELL YEAH!

My day off work tomorrow will be like my original pre-order...Legen...wait for it...DARY!

Just bought into the Alpha lol.

If anyone else plays in Alpha post in this thread. I am assuming multi-player co-op will be good to go.

Yep, Titan Quest/Immortal Throne is my second favorite ARPG of all time after D2/LOD.

Interestingly, unless it comes up when you log into the game, there's been no discussion of a NDA for the Alpha.

This game is fucking awesome.

Basically the gameplay/atmosphere looks like a mash up of Titan Quest and Diablo 1.

I've tried playing TL2 with a friend of mine using their client-client system and it's consistently lagging and desyncing. I wonder if this is better? I'm looking for a good ARPG and while PoE is fun I lost interest in playing it for some reason. I loved Titan Quest so maybe I'll buy into the Alpha.

Multi-player is off for now.

Played about 30 minutes. Absolutely no issues so far other than a missing cursor when you click on the box for naming your character and facing the wrong way after entering a cave.

I feel a little OP right now, so hopefully the difficulty gets turned up soon. Very much a Titan Quest feel to this game. Graphics are not cartoony like TL2 (which I do like, btw). Animation of gibs varies and is pretty good - limbs come flying off, heads get shot off, bodies explode. No graphic anomolies yet and I have everything turned up, pretty much, on a 680Ti.

BTW, anyone considering the Alpha should note that the Alpha is about 1/3 of the game.

Kind of regret not ponying up enough for alpha access, but ah well, good things come to those who wait 🙂.

Did pay for the level that gives 2 digital copies, so I'll be able to play through with my son when the game comes out.

How long is 1/3 of the game; also have you tried incredible adventure of van hesling - if so can you compare grim dawn to it ?
-
I've already prepurchase grim dawn but not alpha - but i was pretty impressed with van hesling which reminded a bit of titan quest but slightly more rpgish (I was not a big fan of torchlight 2 as I found it stale after i completed the game once - where titan quest I played quite a few times end to end but had wish it was closer to van hesling quality - now that I've started van hesling).

I'm really intrigued by Van Helsing. Gameplay wise it look really cool but generally i'm turned down by "franchise" games and especially games that impose you one character to play.

How is it?

Haven't played Van Helsing and quit honestly never heard of it. Only played about 45 minutes and then had to go do something so not sure how long 1/3 is. Grim Dawn forums may have your answer.

Edit: Took one guy apparently 19 hours to get through the Alpha.

also, looks like monsters use a hybrid scaling modifier to your level and you have to restart at the beginning of an area if you get killed.

It took me 7 hours to complete all the quests (including sidequests) as a summoner occultist. The game is REALLY fun and I plan on completing it a few more times (soldier, demolitionist, and DPS occultist).

Unfortunately I was broke when the kickstarter was running. Is there or will there be any way to pay to enter the alpha/beta stage?

You can check their website. They been talking about moving the preorder (they started with preorder before kickstart) to humble and a lot of terms are going to change after they move but I'm not sure when that will happen.

It looks prices have gone up a little since when I ordered but are not bad.

It reminded me of titan quest but a lot shorter. It is actually in beta - but you can buy a key at necrogames for $15. The beta only has act 1 which is around 4 hours; they say that the total game is only 10 or 15 hours (3 acts); but they are planning a triology. The maps are a little linear but otherwise I think it has an interest skill tree and good voice acting (voice acting in an arpg is a bit unusual 🙂 ). The beta has very few issues - full release is May 22nd.

Here is the info:

You can read the forum if you wish. As I said the beta was fairly short - I think I took 3 or 4 hours but i'm always slow - titan quest + expansion took forever - it was huge. It's begining to sound like grim dawn is 2x larger than van hesling for the full product (10 vs 20 estimated hours).

From what I read Grim Dawn sounds like more like a 25-30 hours game.

One guy have finished the alpha, which Crate says is about 1/3 of the game, in about 9 hours...9 hours probably including exploring everything and doing all the quests available and maybe even gazing the screen at the beautiful rendered world 😛

I was a pre kickstarter supporter, and added on more with KS.

Have not had a huge chance to dive in yet, this weekend will check it out more.
