My cedar plank salmon always turns out pretty good but wanting to hear some other tips. Got some beautiful soho salmon from costco.

Glaze - orange juice, soy sauce, garlic, fresh ginger...reduce in sauce pan till it barely coats a spoon, about 20 minutes.

Put salmon on plank, coat generously with glace and grill. Here's where the questions come in - direct heat or indirect? How hot? I think medium works or should I go higher? I've got plenty of different smoke wood chips I can toss on the coals but what kind of wood.

We put a couple slices of butter on top of some thick salmon steaks, dabble it with soy sauce, wrap it in aluminum foil, and toss it on the grill for a little while. Can be finished off by taking it out of the foil. I never was really fond of salmon until my wife made it that way once. Now, I'd happily eat it once a week.

I can't find salmon steaks much anymore, everything is a whole side. I'm working with a really nice filet, about 1.5 inches thick, 3 pounds.
