Grilled cheese sandwich

Bread, cheese, frying pan. Medium low heat, don't walk away. Watch it, flip it every few minutes until the cheese is nice and liquidy. Try smashing it down to get the cheese grease to really soak into the bread while cooking.
 
Pull out griddle and turn stove onto low heat, place two slices of bread on it and warm them up a little. Then flip the bread over and place 3-4 slices of american cheese on one slice and place the other slice on top. Flip once one side is brownish. Done when both sides are brown/cheese melted.

I pretty much do that.. except I put butter on the sides of the bread that hit the frying pan.

LOL...thanks for the recipe!

OP: I like the butter both sides of the bread (2 slices) and then place the cheese (usually slices) in between the 2 slices of bread. I then place it in a frying pan (OR you can use the broiler below your oven) without oil. I simply let the bread toast on the side against the pan and then turn it over and let the other side toast.

When done, don't forget to LET IT COOL before taking a bite - otherwise you may burn your mouth/lips on the hot cheese.

Add some tomato soup to the menu and viola! Yummy meal...🙂

Oh...bummer. You changed your mind. I don't know how to make soy burgers unless theyare the pre-cooked, frozen kind that you can simply pop into the microwave.
 
Butter one side of each slice (even better is to use garlic bread spread - just my personal preference). Throw butter side down on the pan on high or med heat. Put two slices of cheese on the first slice, and then put the other slice down with the butter side on top. Flip sandwich when one side is nicely grilled.

Have no fear, a grilled cheese sandwich shall be made, sooner or later.

They are frozen soy burgers that have protein in them. They are decent. I grill them on the George Foreman and put a slice of cheese on top and eat them as regular hamburgers/cheeseburgers. They are very good if you get used to it.

I read that they don't make very good grilled sandwiches because the weight of the lid squashes the bread.
