Grill recommendation needed...$400ish or less.

I need a new grill, because my old $179 grill did not survive my move. I don't want to spend more than $400 (might go a little higher). I am interested in a good solid grill that will last at least 10 years.

I am open to gas or charcoal, but I somewhat favoring gas due to its ease of use, though I think charcoal provides better flavor...so I could talk myself into either.

I really like weber gas grills, but I really should not spend $700 at the moment...

Any recommendations for a good solid grill, that should not rust with proper care?

Thanks.

Lol, when I first scanned your headline I thought it began "Girl recommendation needed . . ." 😱

Because, for $400 . . .

Buy a Weber -

I've been through 4 other gas grills. The weber is hand down the finest piece I've ever used and its never brke down on us and we grill year around.

For $499 you can get a E310 -

I'd check out Craigslist and see if you can find a few year old model for half-price.

My issue with the $400 range of gas is cheap burners and grates that will rust out and die in 3-5 years. They just don't last long.

Definitely recommend a Weber. Get whatever model you can afford. The warranty is second to none, and if something goes wrong, they will ship you replacement parts with minimal hassle. At least, that was my experience. They even gave me the missing parts when I told them I bought a floor model that I knew was missing parts - I was calling to buy them, but they sent them to me as a courtesy.

Other grills will have more features for the price, but I guarantee they will be rusted out and at the curb long before the Weber.

In case no one has mentioned it yet...Weber, Weber, Weber.

IIRC, we got out Genesis Gold at Home Depot for about $399. They had bent a piece of the body tin with their lock cables...so it was marked down $300. Took me less than 10 minutes (including the time to get tools out and put them away) to fix the little dimple.

I'd just make a notifier on slickdeals/fatwallet for weber or grill and wait for the next hot deal...I know that I saw a Genesis deal within the last week or two.

Weber Q320 $359 at Amazon

I have been using this for 2 1/2 years and it is the best grill I have ever used PERIOD.
Better than the Weber Genisis I used before it and many other $700-$1k I've had in the past.

Great size for up to 5, massive cast iron grills, heats up faster than anything I have ever used. Cast aluminum bowl design is bullet proof and cooks like an outdoor oven sealing in juices and flavors like nothing I've used before. I've probably cooked 500 meals on this thing and it cleans up to look like the day I bought it. Nice matching grill cover for around $20.

This grill cooks so fast it takes a little while to get used to, but once you do its the most efficient and best cooking grill I've ever used and I've been grillin for 40yrs and have worn out more grills than most have ever cooked on.

And don't let the plastic look of the base scare you off, it is truly heavy duty stuff and will look brand new years after SS grills are looking like crap and falling apart.

My only con for this grill is that it isn't balanced well for rolling around, for rolling from one side of the patio to the other its fine, but I wouldn't recommend it if you need a truly portable grill.

Came here to recommend this exact grill, it's fantastic for the money. Make sure to get the version with cast iron grills.

My wife and I have a char-griller, its a charcoal grill and their sold at your local Lowes store. We found it laying on the side of the road. I guess it fell off a trailer or something. I left it on the side of the road for 2 days before I picked it up.

I got a hell of a deal on a kenmore 5 burner + infrared rotisserie + infrared side burner for about 450 (thank you FW)

However, the steel is cheap and thin..

my bro has an expensive weber and it's awesome.

For the total grill noob can someone please list a couple attributes of a Weber grill that makes it favorable to spend the extra money?

The last grill I had (which didn't accompany us to our new home) was a POS free one when we bought our car...

I would like to get a gas grill but I am not totally against using Charcoal...more the wife factor than anything.

Thanks in advance,

Lee
