Griffin iTrips ... are they good?

right another present for my dad, this time from me

since we got a new car its only got a CD player.... = no tape converters gonna work

so im gonna get my dad a FM transmitter to use with his ipod in the car.

this is the one im going for i think.... plugs in the ciggy charger and into the ipod keeping the ipod fully charged and providing enough power for a strong signal at all times.

anyone have one of these or similar?

A friend of mine has an old iTrip (for iPod 4Gs) and it blows my Belkin Tunecast outta the water, sound quality-wise. I can only assume the newer iTrips are as good or better.

it depends on what location you are in. if your radio frequencies are overcrowded, good luck getting an FM tuner to work...

no no UK radio waves really arent that congested, not round here anyway.... i remember when i was in america an there was like a million channels between 88 and 108mhz

I had a cd player fm tuner thingy in the trunk when I bought my car. It must of been a really sh!tty one because it made all my other channels suck and it would never get a nice clean sound. I took that POS out as asap since I listen to the radio a lot more than cd's. Good luck with that though.

The antennas are kind of flimsy, so be careful with it. After doing this, I could get it clear about a hundred yards away.

They suck the big one, at least in SF bay area.
Does your car have a hookup for a CD changer in the back of the HU? That's what mine has, and I hooked up ipod adapter to it.
