Yeah when I start a race I cannot figure out how to get a good start?

Usually all the cars get a few car lengths on me at the start.

Just go, pass them later. :D You usually start at the back, have to work your way through the crowd.

I'm not big on this game. Got it free with my Radeon 4870. It looks awesome by the way. But I have played it a bit, mostly to show my family how far graphics have come since the Super Nintendo.

Its like most other racing games. Dont kill yourself trying to get first place right way.
Just drive well and slowly overtake them by the last lap.

If you cant drive well its all pointless. Try some practice runs by yourself. When you get talented enought that you can go around the track a few times without making any mistakes then your driving skills are good enough.
Go into some competitive modes and use your skills against the other drivers.

The first modern race game I played was Test Drive Unlimited. And because I hadnt played any console titles in years and never played a race game on my computer it kicked my butt for a while.
After lots of practice I got into it and eventually got pretty damn good.
Same thing with GRID. First few rounds I was pushing into the wall half of the time.
Eventually I got better. But only with PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

There are no real tricks, you just need skill. And skill comes from playing the game alot.

Out of curiosity, what kind of controller are you using?

I have played quite a bit in season 7. Playing mostly on normal and the set above that.

I was asking about accelerating at the start of each race though. It seems I spin out more than anyone and get the worst start.

Im using the the 360 controller. Its great with this game.

I finished the singleplayer game and actually did exactly this in nearly every race. You want to drive aggressively at first and pass everyone (or at least get in the top 3) on the first sharp turn you encounter. You can then drive cautiously the rest of the way. GRID's game mechanics make it very easy to stay in first place after you have gotten there. The passing is the hard part.

I've been using the keyboard as my Wingman Formula Force no longer has Force Feedback since WinXP. Most of my races have been first place, but the first level was all easiest difficulty, but am now up to second hardest, but still finishing Top 3. Might buy a new Wheel as I miss playing with one.

I played with a keyboard too. An analog controller is probably better but a keyboard can certainly work well, especially if you are used to it.

Ok so i guess im not doing anything 'wrong' at the start of each race... just a handicap built into the game, i guess.

Don't push the right analog stick too much. 50% or less in the beginning might help you. Hope that helps.

Well then dont do that! ;)
If you always lose control at the start you will be way behind everyone else by the time you get your act together. Hold the trigger down halfway until you get moving, then punch it.

Am glad you are using the Xbox controller. I wont get into the debate here but it really does work better.

I always rev up and hold the tach just below the redline until the lights turn green then squeeze the trigger wide open. Do you have the driver assists enabled?
