That said I can't help that the game does not set you up to win at the start. Not only are you stuck in last place but you are in a car that has the same top speed as everyone else, but WORSE acceleration. Every and all corners that I come out of results in the cars in front of me pulling away. My ONLY way of gaining places has really been to slam into corner packs with a few white line penalties. My only guess is that the game expects you to do mediocre on your first several races, and then use your experience and money to upgrade your car and race them again to reach first place.

Oddly as this might sound, that is an accurate portrayal of what real racecar drives deal with. With real racing, not every car can stand up to the rest. Even the best teams will only have marginally better cars considering the rules. With lower tier racing and tighter budgets the disparity can be wider. I think in the case of Grid Autosport, the point is for you to sweat until you can upgrade your car or get into better, more well funded teams. The problem only shows up in shorter races. In a proper race, there are enough laps to let the faster cars work up the ladder. The more realistic we get, the longer the races need to be to filter out the slower cars. The idea of starting a race and speeding by everyone else isn't realistic at all unless its a multiple class race.

It is a problem though. In an attempt to stay casual, the game keeps things bite size at the detriment of the racing. As I improved and got used to the car I was able to push ahead faster, but we need 10-30 lap races. There may be a way to make the races longer though...honestly I haven't messed with the settings much.
