So as of recently i have been facing a peculiar issue that i have never faced before. When i play certain games,a few minutes in my monitor goes completely grey with vertical lines. Its completely freezes and keyboard/mouse does not work. The only way is to switch off the PC from the mains and restart.
Sometimes the screen freezes but sound still plays in the background and sometimes it doesn't.
However this only happens when playing certain games. For example i am facing this issue on Game of Thrones,Thief 4,Lego Batman 3 but i face no issues when playing other games. So i feel its not my hardware that's at fault because otherwise it would happen when playing all games not just a few games.
I searched all over the internet who have faced this issue and the people say it could my video card is overheating or dying causing grey screen freeze but this does not make sense because it happens only during select few games.
And it only happens during gaming and not anytime else.
I have not overclocked anything,so my PC has always been at stock speeds. My PC specs are Pentium G630 and Radeon 7750 running catalyst 14.4,windows 7 64 bit SP1.
When gaming,my GPU reaches upto 70 degrees max but never above that.

This is the kind of grey screen am talking about. Its not my own but it looks like this.Any help would be appreciated.

I've discovered that the grey screen freeze happens at stock speeds but when i underclock my graphics card,i don't get the grey screen. So since then ive underclocked my card from 800mhz gpu and 1150mhz memory to 650mhz gpu and 900mhz memory and also i set a profile so that the fan on my card ramps up as the gpu temp. increases. So hopefully these measures should help prevent grey screen for now. Thanks for all the help.

Can you tell that the fan on the video card is working?

If you are comfortable doing so, you can remove the heatsink from the card and re-apply thermal paste. That has always given me better card temps, some by a good bit.
