GRE's coming up

Have to take the general GRE soon. Had a few questions for those that have taken it already:

What's the scope of the quantitative? I'm betting it's going to be my weakest area by far. I generally do ok in my math classes (thru calc anyway), but it's been spread out over 18 years and I never actually use any math outside of class.

Anything surprising or tricky about the verbal and/or writing? I scored perfect verbal SAT's (15 years ago), earned distinction awards on my college writing consistently, and am a reading whore, so unless you have some insights I don't think I'm too worried about these portions.

Best study guides and resources out there?

Thanks in advance.

the quant is simple, much easier than SAT math..no calculus of course..just pick up a coupla books and do GRE POWERPREP software (its free from ETS) and use that to brush up

GRE now is a huge vocab test on the verbal, so brush up on that.. because it is adaptive, they will find some words you don't know, i can almost guarantee that 🙂 I memorized a lot of words from Kaplan and PR and they helped somewhat, i definitely saw some of those on my test

as far as the writing, follow the guidelines in the book, they are looking for a plain 5 (or more) paragraph essay with a clear intro and conclusion, thesis, etc..nothing fancy
