Well, as some of you know, I went to United States Marine Corps recruit training back in late August. Today, I graduated as a Marine. I have to say that it was one of the proudest moments of my life. Screaming "GOOD MORNING SIR...UHRAH!" literally gave me chills.

I'm now on boot leave until the 4th of December and then I begin 28 days of Recruiters Assistance. This will involve working at a maximum, 8 hours a day, six days a week. This will end on Dec 31st. Either way, this is a pretty sweet deal.

I thank all of you for your support while I was gone. It's good to be back, folks.

Good evening and Semper Fi!

Very true. I have to admit that my first action upon leaving the base was to go to a bar. That may have contributed to my lack of discretion. As far as Iraq goes, not any time soon. I have Marine Combat Training from Jan 1 - 19, then I have language school at the Defense Language Institute for about ten months then I have Intelligence school at Quantico, VA for about five months. We'll see after that.

I'm not familiar with your circumstance. Why did you feel the need to enlist? I don't respect your decision but I understand the psychological source of such a decision.

It's good to hear from you Dain, I've wondered how you were doing since you went in. Congratulations on your graduation and good luck with the rest of your training.

Well, I didn't feel the "need" as much as the "desire" to join. I wanted to do something that I would find interesting and exciting with my life that would also leave me with career options when my enlistment term was up. As far as you respecting my decision, I don't care for or need it as I do what I want but thanks for the input.

IF you can make it work and use the system to your advantage then you've my respect. I have two friends that served in Kuwait and North Korea, they are being paid (by the VA) to attend a shitty college full time as they work with me and receive full time wages. I also have two cousins who are being detached from VA medical services even though they were wounded in Iraq during the last 4 years. It is a crap shoot and I hope you don't get shot.
