The Federal Reserve and Mr. Greenspan to meet this month and discuss the economy for the
last time this year. Lower interest rate or not? Thoughts or opinions?

Well, the economy is slowing, jobless rates are up, stocks are falling -- seems like a good time. It'll lower my loan payment so I'm hoping.

Highly unlikely. We may see a change in bias this month and an easing next. I will go as far as saying if we dont have a President by the meeting, it will not happen for sure.

I agree with thebestMAX unlikel this month especially since the jobless and wage numbers that came out today were not bad. A rate cut is definatley coming however just take a look at the treasury rates and they are already counting on several rate cuts in the next half year.

This is a good time to be looking at dumping the USD and picking up something like the euro or NZD. the NZCB has indicated they are going to be raising rate 1% in the comming months and with the fed cutting the NZD should do good against the USD.
