Black and green olives are the same. Just differ in ripeness
I like black, green, kalamata, greek, manzanilla, nicoise, gaeta, sevillana. My asolute favorite are giant greens still with pits. followed by kalamatas in oil.

Black olives aren't even supposed to be black. What most people think of when they think of Black Olives are those horrible bland canned things that are actually dyed to look black. Fail.

Fresh black olives from a local premium grocer are actually pretty damned good, I was surprised to find. They are usually purplish in color.
 
I ate a whole jar of green olives when I was a kid and puked it up. Now whenever I even smell them my gag reflexes work overtime.
I only like black olives on pizza.
