We need a scientifically designed sustainable way of living, that preserves the world as a place of diversity of life and satisfies the animal that evolved from nature build into our genes. The entire civilization we have now needs to be replaced to harmonize the animal with with the world we evolved in. The meaning of life is to realize the joy of being, not the fantastical creature we imagine ourselves to be, but the one at the heart of the highest expression of empathy. We are the universe knowing itself in awareness of our own awareness.

I wondered about your last sentence there, so I Googled, and you're right. He has not attempted to link his green energy plans to the geopolitical rationale which has become so obvious with this war.

Right now he seems focused heavily on lowering gas prices, which is contra to the clean energy goals. Likely because high gas prices will hurt him and the dems politically if they persist through the next election or beyond. I agree with that, in the short term, anyway. But it doesn't preclude him using this opportunity to explain to the public the other benefits of getting off fossil fuels. I just think too many people don't get it.

Did not realized that the semiconductor industry used neon, had to google it. Seems all you need is a cheap source of energy, as it is distilled out of cryogenically frozen air. Seems production could be shifted easily, but I am probably not aware of some of the issues.

US will boost LNG supply to Europe. Some climate hawks don't like this but the reality is that the alternative is probably that Europe burns a shitload more coal which is worse. This is also only one prong in getting Europe off gas. Large investments in renewables, heat pumps, insulation, etc also pushed forward at the same time.

And here's another aspect, of just one aspect, of why we need to end fossil fuels. American oil companies have paid the Russian government $15.8 billion in taxes since Russia took Crimea in 2014. Presumably half of that went to Putin and his oligarch pals, because they steal half the Russian tax base, while the other half is helping fund this war.
