What? What's that I see? The Green Bay Packers with the best record in the NFL? The fact that they are 4 games ahead of the second place team in their bracket? Yup, Yup I thought so. Have we clinched a playoff spot yet?

I think they automatically get a Super Bowl spot, just to keep us and the other fellow Wisconsin drunks fat and happy, hehe.

Packer fan here in Southern California! :D

Played Little League baseball as the Philadelphia Phillies while brother was with the Minnesota Twins. So he became a Minnesota Vikings fan naturally while I was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Well, the Eagles don't really play the Vikings much and they are in different division, so I became a Green Bay Packer fan soon, and been one ever since. :D Still a bit partial to the Philadelphia Eagles, but if it's the Packers vs. Eagles in the playoffs.. go Packers!!! :) Nothing like sibling rivalry.

And its not like Southern California has a NFL team. :disgust: Never liked the Raiders or the Rams when they were here so blah.

Yep, Packers' fan here. Living in Socal I suppose my "local" team would be the Chargers. I like them, but my teams are the Packers and Steelers.

5 ticks left in the Super Bowl, the Pack they trailed by one.
The ball marked near the fifty. Favre warmed up his gun.
And in the other end zone a man rose to his feet. Tim the Die-Hard-Packer-Fan, knew this was destiny.

Shirtless, painted green and gold from his forehead to his heiny. The smile slowly left his face. He said, "Someone hold my Leiny".
He wet his finger, felt the air. A headwind turned their way. "Favre", he thought, "He's got the gun, but he needs our help, ya hey?"
He lumbered down the steps. His mission now was clear. Neutralize the headwind, or wait another year.

And as he stepped onto the field, security stopped him short. They asked him who he was, he said "I'm Tim, I'm from up Nort."
Whereabouts they fired back. Sheboygan, he revealed. Whaddy catch? He said "Mostly Pike" They let him on the field.

As Favre barked out the signals, Tim chugged a giant beer. And then another, and one after that, as tension filled the air.

The ball was snapped, a route was run, Favre unleashed the ball. Never had there been a spiral, so clean and far and tall.

And then it hit the headwind and started coming back. Tim felt a rumble in his gut, now was time to act.

The burp came out so long and hard, the Yukon felt a breeze. A tidal wave of beer and brats and half a wheel of cheese. The blimp was lost for 7 days, skybox glass was shattered. An OshKosh woman lost her teeth. Tim's stomach left in tatters.

But the pass came down, the catch was made, and just before Tim died. He was heard to say "The Pack are Back Oh For Cry Ay Ay"

His headstone reads, "Tim gave his life. Never did he wince. He tailgates high above old Lambeau, grilling brats with Vince".

The Packers have been impressive the past two games, but for the previous 20, they hardly ever won in convincing fashion. As long as Favre stays healthy, we'll know pretty soon whether they are serious Super Bowl contenders.

Interestingly, some magazine (maybe SI?) recently made the subjective claim that the Packers have replaced the Cowboys as America's Team, largely on the shoulders of Favre's popularity (funny thing is St. Louis has gotten all the press these past 3 seasons, so I missed that transition somehow). I always despised that moniker, but as a fan since 1995, it's amusing to see the bandwagon getting heavy.

Eh-hem, Brett Favre......, need I say more?:D I think that guy is a master at pumping up his team, those guy's just play and never seem to stop even though they have all those darn injuries. Plus you have Green as a running back and he REALLY keeps a defense on their toes and the focus OFF Favre. I think that team just has a crap load of spirit and speed. If you have been watching the games, Terry Glenn and Donald Driver are almost ALWAYS open somehow, it's like watching highschool football!! If you take a good look at that team, they have alot of young players that are experienced enough to know how the game really works. Adding Terry Glenn was a very big boost for them on the offense, I loved watching Terry with the patriots and he's turning out to be great with Green Bay as well. I think the one thing REALLY standing out for them is defense, I thought they were going suck ASS on the defensive side this year but they have been doing excellent at shutting down the run AND pass, very solid team.
