I remember from my trip to Greece that most homes have one room with a wall missing because they only pay property taxes on completed homes. You could see some of the "tax rooms" from the bus, I wonder if that loop-hole is still there and in use?

Is it wise to write that on a forum ?

P.S.

I like my edited version more :)
Which part. Tipping CA into the ocean or hiring illegals? I'll have help if my scenario goes through and it is very apparent that politicians like illegals because the borders are wide open.

These people are not willing to do what it takes to survive. you can only live off of the charity of others for so long.

True. It is one corrupt scheme their. Work for 5 days. That means on paper working 2 days and paying only taxes for 2 days. A friend of mine knows Greece very well. The things happening there... And the fun part is, it is tax paradise for millionaires from countries like the Netherlands, Germany,France, the UK... Makes one wonder...

ever wonder why many cargo/oil tankers are Greek flagged?

there are crazy taxes like that all over europe. In Germany most houses do not have closets because there is a significant tax on having built-in closets.

Such is modern society. Modern lavishes paid for by fake wealth. When the pyramid schemes come crashing down, so too does civility. Violence is their answer.

Pretty much. I wonder how far behind the rest of western society is from ending up like Greece.

Not far.

It's said that either Portugal or Spain are next with Ireland close behind. They're referred to as the "PIGS". Concerns are building about Italy too. Decades of overspending on social programs is catching up with these countries. As we seek to emulate them, their economies are crumbling under the weight of their welfare states.

Will we learn from this? I highly doubt it. The progressive movement has a firm foothold in our country. They're convinced it's going to work this time. The elections this fall will tell the tale.

Regardless, without some extremely difficult and unpopular changes being made, we're doomed to follow the PIGS.

If I was a German tax payer, I would be beyond pissed off about this.

Hell, if I were an Icelander I'd be pissed about this, we have to pay you back but Greece gets bailed out? In fact I'm an American and pissed off about it. $8 billion? Hello, our government is broke too, Messiah. Surely even a proponent of the Magic Cupboard Theory of Economics has SOME point at which he can imagine the Magic Cupboard running dry . . .
