i voted anyway :p
This here's a tale for all the fellas
Try to do what those ladies tell us
Get shot down cause you're over zealous
Play hard to get an females get jealous
Ok smartie, go to a party
Girls are stancin the crowd is showin body
A chick walks by you wish you could sex her
But you're standin on the wall like you was Poindexter
Next days function, high class luncheon
Food is served and you're stone cold munchin'
Music comes on, people start to dance
But then you ate so much you nearly split your pants
A girl starts walkin, guys start gawkin'
Sits down next to you and starts talkin'
Says she wanna dance cus she likes the groove
So come on fatso and just bust a move

You're on a mission and you're wishin'
someone could cure you're lonely condition
You're lookin for love in all the wrong places
Not fine girls just ugly faces
From frustration first inclination
Is to become a monk and leave the situation
But every dark tunnel has a lighter hope
So don't hang yourself with a celibate rope
New movie's showin... so you're goin
Could care less about the five you're blowin
Theatre gets dark just to start the show
When you spot a fine woman sittin in the front row
She's dressed in yellow, she says "Hello,
Come sit next to me you fine fellow"
You run over there without a second to loose
And what comes next, hey bust a move

If you want it baby you've got it (repeat)
Just bust a move

In the city ladies look pretty
Guys tell jokes so they can seem witty
Tell a funny joke just to get some play
Then you try to make a move and she says "no way"
Girls a fakin' ... goodness sakin'
They want a man who brings home the bacon
Got no money and you got no car
Then you got no woman and there you are
Some girls are sophistic... materialistic
Looking for a man makes them opportunistic
They're lyin on the beach perpetratin a tan
So that a brother with money can be their man
So on the beach you're strollin'... real high-rollin'
Everything you have is your's and not stolen
A girl runs up with somethin to prove
So don't just stand there, bust a move

(break down)

Your best friend Harry has a brother Larry
In five days from now he's gonna marry
He's hopin you can make it there if you can
'Cause in the ceremony you'll be the best man
You say "neato"... check your libido
And roll to the church in your new tuxedo
The bride walks down just to start the wedding
And there's one more girl you won't be getting
So you start thinkin, then you start blinkin
A bride maid looks and thinks that you're winkin
She thinks you're kinda cute so she winks back
And now you're feelin really fine cus the girl is stacked
Reception's jumpin, bass is pumpin
Look at the girl and your heart starts thumpin
Says she wants to dance to a different groove
Now you know what to do g, bust a move

Its really tough to say who is the greatest of all time. If you go on just pure talent, Biggie, KRS, Tupac, ODB, and Rakim really stand out from the crowd. If you go on popularity and accomplishments, LL Cool J wins hands down. You also left off one of the top 10 IMO in Chuck D. I would probaly have to say overall LL is the greatest because he ist talented, accomplished, and has longetivity.

Dre is decent rapper, but no where near greatest of all-time. But Dre is talented composer, at that he is the greatest of all-time.

Tupac: Greatest impact.

Eminem: Most talent.

I don't know if I would say Eminmen has the most talent. I think he is in the 5-7 of all time. He is lot like LL. While they have tremendous talent, they also possess great business minds. They know how to market not only themselves, but their music as well. A lot guys couldn't do that. ODB comes to mind. Flatout off the cuff seriously gifted rapper, but he was so ignorant half time you couldn't get pass how outrageous he was as a person to truly appreciate how very very good he was. Being great is more than just coming up with nice rhymes.

2. BIG
3. Pac
4. KRS
5. Eminem
6. ODB
7. Rakim
8. Chuck D. (How the hell Chuck D ain't on there is beyond me)
9. Eazy E
10. Snoop

On a side note. Whoever in the hell voted for 50 Cent should be slapped.

Dre stole almost every one of his licks from George Clinton. And how can you rate Snoop above Dre when there would have been no Snoop without Dre?

See? This is why I don't care too much for rap from an artistic standpoint. It's just not original music. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy listening to quite a bit of rap (particularly NWA style and influenced), but once you start trying to judge its artistic merits it all falls to hell...

Snoop is head and shoulders above Dre. But yea I agree it gets tough when try to judge rap on artistic merits. Rap is more like a talent more than a gift. Hendrix playing guitar was a damn gift. But listening to some lyrics run down is more like a talent. The problem with rap is there really is no standard, its more like a to each his own. Some folks luv hardcore like NWA and Tupac, while some like the groovy ryhmes you can dance to like LL. But one thing about rap, there is a lil something for everybody's taste.

Your poll sucks. Not a single one of those rappers is in my collection, and probably never will be.

I just wanna say that your list sucks, its like you just named every popular rapper you could remember, and then threw in some older names spelled incorrectly :(

my own top 5 mc's

1.E40
2.The Grouch
3.Eminem
4.Slug
5.Kool Keith

(this doesnt count groups like pharcyde, tribe or outkast, just indivdual rappers)

also, you are asking this question on AT so you know the majority of people who "like rap" will just click 2pac.
