The x800xl will give you 100fps on some res's, depends on what res and aa/af levels you want, but why do you care? The human eye can't see more than 60.

ya i guess an x800XL should be good enough for u. u can also get the 6600GT which wont give u the same kind of performance but very reasonable performance and a much reduced price.....i guess u will be able to cross 60fps at 1280x1024 also with a 6600GT

the human eye cant see much more than 30 actually!!

actually yes it can. 60 fps is the limit, anyhitng above that is not noticeable and doesn't increase performance. get a 6800gt and ur fine. or teh x800 xl if u are ati'ing it.

Just for the record, the 9800 pro does best with the catalyst 4.12's

NOT the newest catalysts that claim to improve CSS performance. This may be true with the X series.

[rant]for gods sake people, FORGET the idea that "The human eye cannot see more than 60 frames per second!!!1!11" - which you probably read off steampowered forums anyways . If you want, come round my house and i'll show you the noticable difference between 80fps and 100fps! Sure 60 may be playable, but in order to be totally smooth appearing you need quite a few more in reality.. (in a FPS game like CS.)[/rant]

Ehm. yes an X800XL should be good. 1280x1024 with moderate AA and AF should pull around 100 with a decent CPU i'd imagine.

Your LCD is most likely running at 60 Hz... that means no matter what the human eye can detect, and no matter what your video card is capable of... you won't see more than 60 frames per second.

The x800XL is still the best choice IMO.
