Great.. the freaking AC is broken in the computer lab AGAIN

Last semester this went on for a week. I know this building was built maybe in the 50s and no way was this basement room ever designed as a computer lab. It houses something like 70 or so Dell machines in a cramped area.

Well I can tell the AC is dead. There's no loud whir of the machine and it's freaking hot here.

Last semester it was around 90 in here for the week the AC was broken. Obviously, very few people will come in here. I would come in to quickly print and run out. Maybe only half of fewer of the computers are being used in these conditions so why don't they at least shut down half the freaking comps. Either you run the room at 90 degrees and no one's gonna come in or you shut down some of the computers so at least it's not a fvcking toaster oven.... I don't get it...

our a/c system has bee on the fritz since nov30th of last yr here in the comp room. currently its 76deg with 6 printers going. man it sucks.

now my boss and the facility people are having a nice meeting with the air company tommorrow to figure out if they need to get a new company to fix this stuff.
they actually did but the compresssor broke in the brand new liebert last month rofl

only thing keeping it a little cool in here is the backup a/c and it dont work for squat! Z:|

get some portable air coolers in there? maybe put some fans to atleast circulate the air? and shutdown any machine that isn't being used. should help.

It's like 90 degrees in here at least. People are asking which row of computers might be the coolest.

I printed out a page that says "FIX THE AC YOU NEWBS" and left it in the printer yesterday. I wonder how they took it.

Today I sent an email telling them to turn off the unused computers at least. This is ridiculous seeing 40% of the computers unused yet generating insane amounts of heat.

These are Prescott systems.

90degrees F is roughly my Opteron 170 running at load (slightly cooler maybe)

So if 90 degrees F is my LOAD temp, but the AMBIENT temp in this case, aren't these Prescott's running at 60 - 70 deg C?

Maybe before i leave I should log into as many computers as I can and start Folding@Home then run away...

I don't even wanna hear the words air conditioning at this point in time.

Turn on the heat. You're still conditioning the air.

Either that, or you could write an IF/THEN statement or a WHILE loop, and apply it to the air somehow.

Nah. Open as many instances of Prime95 as there are CPU cores, and set them to the max heat/power consumption torture test.

Then wait for some kind of reprimand for tampering with school property.

Just end yourself right then and there. No one deserves to have to live through such atrocities.

Maybe you should have studied more in High School and you wouldn't be going to some ghetto school now.
