Great, RX-7 needed a jump.......

The battery is on its last leg. This is the second jump in the same week. I'm just waiting for next friday (payday) to pick up a battery. This leads me to my question. Can someone recommend a good battery? How do I know what kind to get (power wise)?

I didnt leave the lights on, the dome light on, or anything else. Maybe the battery is just old? Its about 3 years old.

I just picked up a walmart battery a few months back for $40. Works great. Warenteed for 2 years I think.

3yrs is a bit too young for a battery to die unless you live in arizona or some place odd.

just get a standard battery.. diehard is a decent brand.. but i just go with the cheapest.. works fine for me..

pepboys sells one for about 40 bucks.. the 30 buck one is useless, the 40 buck and above are fine.. if you want cheap.. more expensive batteries the good stuff start about 70.. the optima batteries are about 110

What are the benifits of the more expensive batts?

lots of people rave about optima batteries. i will be getting a yellowtop soon since i just put in a stereo system

warcrow, i like your fd, looks clean... it's a little late to jump in this, but the word is optima batteries are good... while u need to change ur battery, why not do a battery relocation and balance out the weight instead of having a 25+ pound battery sitting in the front left part of ur car? or go w/ a pb-680, if you're looking in detail about performance...

and i disagree on pfs being THE authority on rx7's... a lot of people will disagree as there was some controversy about htem a while back...

Wow, this is an old thread, but I appreciate the insite. I already got a new battery about a week ago. The battery I had in there, an Interstate, was 7 years old. So, I jsut replaced it with another Interstate. It was a little expensive ($68), but I think it was worth it. I also had the mechanic test to make sure my car is charging properly, and it is 🙂 Maybe I'll try out the Optima (are they gel batteries?) next time.

Get an odyssey motorcycle battery and cut 20 lbs from your curb weight. 😀

Does curb weight just reffer to the weight on the left hand side of the vehicle? (I know this is a really dumb question, I just want to make sure)

I prefer AC-Delco batteries because they use virgin lead on the positive plates which helps the battery last longer.

I'll trade you a brand new top of the line Optima battery for your rotary in exchange for one night with your fiancee, I'll even install it for you 😉

yep. ppl usually switch to optimas when running a system in their cars....

I've used and been extremely pleased with Die Hard Gold's in my GT. I actually get one for a F350 Super Duty truck that is a bit bigger than stock, and has a crap load more cranking power... It sits fine in my standard battery tray. I'm actually considering switching to an Optima this year.

I've heard good things about Optima's too, and Quixfire knows his stuff, so AC-Delco should be a good choice as well.

make sure you get a battery with a warranty. I've had great luck with Champion/Exide and Diehards.
