The eminent and world renowned particle physicist Haim Harari is a native born (Jerusalem, 1940) Israeli, so when he says in this talk:
Because Israel and any problems related to it, in spite of what you might read or hear in the world media, is not the central issue, and has never been the central issue in the upheaval in the region.
I, myself
tend to take such a statement with at least one grain of salt.
He comes down really hard on the Muslims themselves, and there is much food for thought in what he says
and much which is true, but ignoring the Arab-Israeli conflict
as beside the point in this region is, IMHO, disingenuous.
He says, rhetorically:
Do I say all of this with the satisfaction of someone discussing the failings of his enemies?
His rhetorical answer is, "No".
And it could well be the case, but, I say, just in case, pass the salt.
