Great photographers?

I'm looking for some famous artists who are known for taking excellent photos of human subjects... Not necessarily nudes but just some good example of interesting lighting/compositions... Not just really clinical stuff but artistic expressions of the human form... Thanks! (I'm looking for names of artists not links to pics- I'll buy the books from amazon)

Celebrities: Richard Avedon, Annie Liebovitz
Ordinary People: Henri Cartier Bresson
Babies: Anne Geddes
Human Form: Robert Maplethorpe

Thanks for all the suggestions! I have to film a visually arresting short film and would love to study some great compositions before jumping in.. Thanks!

Be careful when looking up stuff by Robert Mapplethorpe. He's done extensive work with homoerotic/bdsm photography. Still great pictures but not something you want other (non-photog) people catching you reading.

Tina Modotti

give her a try. She is one of the lesser known photographers, but her pics were beautiful and raised awareness.

Try google's images for some of her work.
