Okay....

Putting together a new P4c 2.4Ghz & ABIT IC7 & 512 X 2 of Kingston Hyper X PC3500 DDR sometime this week. And of COURSE I shall be overclocking it. Now of course many of you shall perhaps suggest, just use the included Intel Retail HSF combo, which is I'm sure would be fine. Yet my room is really insulated (about 10-20 degrees F warmer than the rest of the house), and also I want to about as guarantee as I can to get a over clocked speed of about 3.2Ghz and perhaps a little beyond. BUT WITH STABILITY, of course.

And I am in now way interested in anything exotic like Water cooling or anything like that.

So I'm looking to spend around $40 for a copper P4 HSF combo with EXCELLENT thermal dissipation. I saw on NewEgg the Thermaltake P4 Spark 7 for $25. If anyone things this would be great in my above O'C attempt, then maybe I'll try it.

But the features I'm looking for are a HSF combo with 1. Fan with Speed Control 2. Temperate Sensor. So if anyone can suggest anything better with those features, please do. Thanks a lot guys

I saw this site that compares the different HSFs but I think all of them are for AMD. After looking at the site I narrowed my result for HSF to "GlacialTech Igloo Silent Breeze 462". It got one of the best die temp. and ranked #1 in noise characters. I am not sure how old this article is though.

I am thinking about P4 C too so I need to know the best HSF for P4 C processor.

I'd grab a Vantec Aeroflow and a rheobus if I were you. It'd give you all the features you'd want, minus temp. sensor though. They're not too loud, and they do a good job of cooling. When running at 7v, they perform almost silently. Thermaltake, in my experience, makes products that are mediocre at cooling, and are loud, even if Thermaltake's specs say they're quiet. They apparantly test fan db levels using tests that make their numbers look good.

Or you could save up a bit and grab an SLK-900.. those things are beasts :D

Zalman PNSC7000-AlCu hybrid cooler. $30 plus shipping from SVC. You can find a review at Lost Circuits

I have a P4 1.6A overclocked to 2.72GHz at 170FSB. The Zalman keeps it at 32 deg C idel and 40 deg C full load. I can run SANDRA or Prime95 indefinitely with the Zalman. Either the stock HSF or the AVC Sun Flower will bomb after 20 minutes full loads.

Im using the completely copper version and its great. Excellent cooler and quiet too!

Contrary to Lost Circuits review, the -Cu version is a better performer than the -AlCu. Someone got both and tried them out over at asusboards.com (cant find the post though, sorry)

I did not tried the pure Cu version. What is important to me is that the AlCu hybrid weights 50% less. I believe that the performance difference between the two is minimal.
