So Michael Bay is going to remake the Hitchcock classic, "The Birds".

The sheer idiocy behind this idea is staggering to the point that it must have seemed like sheer brilliance to a room full of studio execs. "The Birds" is one of the most original and frightening movies of all time, and it was directed with a masterful touch by a genius with few if any peers. Now, out of all the competent directors in Hollywood, somehow assclown Michael Bay got attached to this project. What does this mean? Instead of a tightly directed, suspenseful story of nature gone awry, we are likely to see two hours of enormous explosions while Bruce Willis smites thousands of screeching, enraged gulls with fully automatic weapons.

Hollywood disgusts me more and more.

I think I just vomited in my mouth.

Good - that means I'm not the only one.

Hopefully everyone involved will get spanked in the only way that Hollywood understands: Lots of money lost.

Micheal Bay isn't THAT bad. Just because you don't like his action-packed style doesn't mean he's a moronic assclown. I guess this means you don't like Jerry Bruckheimer either?

If you want a brainless action-fest, those are your guys. "The Birds" isn't the deepest, most thought-provoking flick ever, but it deserves someone better (or better yet, to not be remade at all).

Michael Bay should not even be allowed to talk about Hitchcock let alone remake his stuff.

I must admit that there is the occasional movie for which my curiosity almost makes me wish a remake, like Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan starring in a remake of Desert Hearts. However, shouldn't some original ideas be tried too to see if there yet remains unexplored classics-in-the-making deep under Hollywood's glossy foundation?
