Great music from John Mayer!!!

The music that I listen to usually is hip hop, rap, and r&b. I don't really like alternative, or anything like that....

But my coworker played this CD at work last week, and I love it!

It's called "Room For Squares" by John Mayer.

GREAT CD.

The music is awesome -- he has a unique Connecticut accent, his guitar playing is phenomenal...and his lyrics are great...

You can check him out here:
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/23/john_mayer.html

Also, BestBuy has his CD on sale today for $6.99.

If you end up liking this artist, please support him by purchasing his CD, not d/l'ing it...it's even on sale!!!

Yeah I started listening to him a couple months ago. A local radio station here in Birmingham makes an album only for sale in town which has various artists playing songs live at their studios. It's called "Live in the X Lounge." There are currently four of them. You can probably download them on Morpheus. Very good stuff.

Anyway, John Mayer had a song on the latest X Lounge CD and I was VERY impressed with his sound. A lot of people compare him with Dave Matthews. Personally, I think he sounds kind of like a cross between James Taylor and Lenny Kravitz. Great guitar sound, good lyrics, easy to listen to.

JM is awesome... had the pleasure of seeing him in concert twice about six months ago and he puts on a great show. If he comes to your area, I highly suggest seeing him live.

P.S. I agree his voice sounds Dave Matthews-ish, but his music doesn't.

wow how odd i just picked up his cd last week as well...great minds think alike! 😀

"no such thing" i think his most "famous" song but there are songs on the album that are at least equal to or better

Some of my favorites "My Stupid Mouth" "Your Body Is a Wonderland" "83"

this is one of those CDs where I can actually sit through the whole thing without wanting to anxiously jump between tracks 🙂

ya i know he's in concert. 🙂 got tix already!

i love NO Such Thing, WHy Georgia Why, 83, My Stupid Mouth, Neon, Your Body is a Wonderland, Back To You

ahhhaa
that's 7 of the 14 songs on the CD!!!

wow tix are on sale already? last time i checked i couldn't get any from ticketmaster(lol oops they are on sale now, im dumb i put the link up myself and i didn't even look)

i think the only song where JM sounds dave matthewish is "back to you"

<< 83 and 3x5 are my new favorites >>

3x5 is my favorite as well, along with Neon. But you're right... the entire CD is listenable all the way through, and it's so cheap. They did that with the Pete Yorn CD too, and it's a smart move on their part because more people are going to take a chance when the price is so low, and then when every song is awesome they feel even better about their purchase.

I suggest you go to http://www.johnmayertrading.com/, and download "Inside Wants Out". It's his independent CD from 1999. It's now OOP big-time and commanding $150 a copy on ebay. It's different than RfS... it's all acoustic and solo (except for Back To You), and has a couple of additional songs. Very nice complement to RfS.

And you should hear John live, for sure. There are some real gems in his catalog that have only been played Live. Start at the trading site, and if you get serious about trading live shows, check out http://www.etree.org. You can find DMB shows on there as well as many other awesome bands.

Long live singer/songwriters!!

Edit: Corrected booboo

Yeah, Neon is fuggin awesome too. Now that is music I can blast and just sit back with a big grin on my face 🙂

<< luv2chill.

You're welcome! If you really like it LMK and I can burn you a copy of the real CD... I bought it before it went OOP.

I've heard rumors that he's going to re-release in some form or another, but I've no idea if and when that will happen. Also, if you want some live shows to get you started I can do that too.

<< Jm is truly the man..... john mayer + dave matthews + howie day + ben folds = gods >>

I don't know Howie Day, but I agree with you on the rest.

Dave Matthews is my favorite band of all time

It's going to be fun watching Howie Day blow up like is currently happening to JM. Howie is the man!! Saw my first show when he came here to Lawrence with OAR last month. Excellent show! I'm in the process of getting the mpeg of it!

Well you should! Seriously check out www.howieday.com, and look for some songs on Napster or something. His album is hard to find because he's still sorta obscure (that's quickly changing however). It's called Australia and is, in a word, awesome. If you want to buy a copy from me it's $10. I'm a rep and that's one of my responsibilities...

But where Howie shines is live (even more than JM). He puts on a one-man show, and uses pedals with delay effects to get a whole accompaniment going... all by himself. I have some live shows and vids too, and if you're interested, LMK and I can do a B&P. My cable modem upload is crap so I'd rather not host them.

Seriously, these guys are going to be big. Awesome music is hard to come by and these guys are it.
