GREAT laptop, NO Monitor.

Well, I recently inherited my mom's "old" laptop. It is a Compaq Presario 2100, with a 60 gig hard drive. Unfortunately, the monitor got broken. I want it to stay in one place ALL THE TIME, I will not be moving it.
Well, what can I do with it? I have tried to attach an old monitor to no avail. Is there some way I can attach it to my main computer?

does it have a function key for monitor/LCD?

you can try hitting that a couple times after pluggin in a monitor and booting up

i have an old laptop same kind of problem, but with 75% of screen not functioning... but I was still able to see enough to change the settings in the bios for monitor... The only other option I can think of is to memorize the bios lol and do it through 3rd option down, two options right etc 🙂
