Great Internet Debates

Certain debates seem to pop up over and over again on internet message boards. Does 0.999...=1? Does the airplane on the conveyor take off? Is circumcision good or bad? What are your favourite debates? Do you actually click on these threads anymore (honestly)? It just seems odd to me that people can get so angry and fed up with these threads (which are inevitably locked) yet continue to come back to them when they are brought up.

Of course they are always a source of great amusement, which is one of the reasons I like them so much.

Please do not argue any of these points in this thread. That means no sniping at people you consider "idiots" for having a difference of opinion (or just being plain wrong).

The original: Mac vs PC. Not much of a debate anymore, but back in the early 90s it was vicious and unending..

Why do we celebrate the birthday of a fictional character on Dec. 25?

This is a great Internet debate? I've never seen it debated, because it doesn't happen. Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus on December 25, non-Christians celebrate the annual visit from Santa Claus. (Santa Claus's birthday is unknown 😉)

Edit: I used a Mac until I went to college, but I never got into any of those debates on Usenet... it was considered bad etiquette.

Legos Vs. Playmobile

maybe not so much internet...but one of the greatest debates to be had under the age of 10
