Umm... sorta OT but are you by any chance related Ned Flanders??

That's not Ned Flanders. I don't remember where it's from though

It's from a candy bar commercial (Snickers I think) where a guy is painting the end zone for Kansas City and someone points out to him that he spelled 'Chiefs' as 'Chefs'.

I remember back in the day paying $61 for 64MB SD and that was a good deal!

I do love my Kingston DataTraveler 512MB USB 2.0 key though, very useful and it's plug + play.

Does this mean that manufacturers are starting to produce half-gigapixel cameras now?

Yep.

As for the post....I really don't know what you'd do with that much space. But, then again, 10 years ago people never thought you'd fill up a 1 gig hard drive.

🙂

100k = 1 pic

8GB = 80000 pics?? maybe not

100k=one pic? Maybe with a high compression rate on a 2MP camera. Try shooting raw with the latest 12 or 16MB cameras and an 8GB card would fill up pretty fast.

Shooting RAW, my 4GB microdrive can hold about 250-300 photos. With a 8GB that would be around 500-600, not unthinkable for a few days of shooting.

But CF cards have industrial uses as well, such as holding GPS maps for airplane navigation systems.

Sweet Mother of God. 1200 bucks. A 4GB can be had for about 400 bucks. A gig is about 80 bucks.
I'm hangin back pickin up everyone's 128 mb memory sticks for 20 bucks a crack. I paid 100 bucks for the first one I bought.
I take pics till I'm blue in the face and can't fill up 10 128mb cards at full res (5mp camera).
I'm still in disbelief :shocked:

And an entire operating system for a HTPC. Just placed an order, gonna re-prototype (though I suspect that Windows installation ALONE may fubar that card's 1000-rewrite capability)
