Great deals for video cards

hey guys
does the 6800 hav the same features of a 7800(SM etc)
if so u can find a 6800EXTREME (512mb) FOR $215. is this a good deal
ps: consider that i was also considering of getting a 7900gt for $383 but will the extra memory give the 6800 a boost. and allthough the prices are mensioned in dollars this card(the one i'm talkin about) is available in Pakistan i dont know about America they probably will hav it the US

The 7900 gt is a far superior card than any 6800 series.

If your budget can extend to the 7900gt then that is the card to go for.

The memory on a graphics card doesn't matter much unless 2 cards are otherwise equal. The GeForce 7 Series of cards will draw less power because of their 90nm architecture, but will perform much better than teh GeForce 6 series of cards because of their much higher memory and core clock speeds, among other factors.

Now, you're talking about a normal 6800 I assume? Well, in benchmarks, even a mid-range GeForce 7600GT will beat it easily, as a 7600GT can easily outrun a 6800GT (and will probably beat an Ultra slightly too), itself a faster card than the garden-variety 6800. A 7600GT costs just $174 in the U.S., so that 6800 is no deal.

By the way, I did find a 512mb 6800 from Asus. It has GDDR2 memory, which is much slower than the GDDR3 found in many modern cards. It's also an AGP card, so you may want to check that, b/c nearly all the 7 series cards are PCI-Express.

the 6800 im talking about is a pci express but they are not givin any more info about the core clocks... i thought the 6800s were GDDR3

Some are GDDR2...and if it's a normal 6800 (not a GT (350mhz) or Ultra (400mhz)), the core clock is about 325/35mhz , versus nearly 600mhz for the mid-level 7600GT. The high clocks of the 7600GT make up for its 128 bit memory bus, which in the end makes it better than just about all the 6 series cards

Also consider that if you're considering 383 dollars for a 7900GT, you're not looking hard enough. Unless you want the highly OC versions (which you can do yourself anyway, essentially), you should be able to find a 7900GT for ~$320-ish. That card is way better than a 6800 anything and is a terrific bang-for-the-buck card.

i think the 7900gt is clocked higher since its XFX. u forgot that outside the us computer parts are way expensive and here prices drop after about a year after its released (lol the X360 here is about $850)

No, it's PCI-Express. Nearly all the 7-series cards are.

If you are looking at a 7900GT, look for eVGA (if that's available) since they have lifetime warranties that cover overclocking
